Included are two test programs. The first contains AWT text fields and a text area. The second contains Swing text fields and a text area. Run these programs on a Windows machine with more than one keyboard layout installed. (A keyboard can easily be installed by going to the Control Panel/Keyboards applet then selecting the Input Locales tab. Select add and choose something like French(Standard). You may need a Windows install CD handy. Or you can point it to the Windows CD images on \\pc-cup02\pc-archive. For convenience, make sure you check the "Enable indicator on taskbar" check box at the bottom of the Input Locales tab.)
Type in the text fields then switch keyboard layouts. You can do this using the little keyboard indicator on the Windows taskbar. Type using the new keyboard. You may have to switch keyboard layouts several times before you see anything wrong. Eventually it will break. Some times you will see that the taskbar indicator does not match the language actually being typed. Sometimes you will see that the taskbar indicator does not actually switch when you tell it to. I have also occasionally seen that the language being typed is not any of the possible choices from the taskbar. (Its probably just garbage). The symptoms seem more severe with the Swing program. For really weird behavior, install at least three keyboards and try switching between them.
This problem appears on kestrel fcs build I. I tried it on kestrel beta O and it did not appear. This is a regression.
