WINDOWS ONLY Issue
1.4.1_01 has two install mechanisms.
1. Installshield full JRE installer
2. RTPatch incremental JRE update installer
It's found that RTPatch JRE and Installshield JRE can result in
a situation where you are able to install SAME versions of JRE on
the system through two different mechanisms. Control Panel-->Add Remove
will show different entries for both installation, potential for customer
confusion.
1. Install 1.4.1 FCS JRE
2. Install 1.4.1_01 RTPatch update release
2a. Note that control panel-->Add Remove and note 1.4.1 and Java Update
1.4.1_01-b0x show-up
3. Try and install 1.4.1_01 Installshield full JRE update release
4. Note the warning that "1.4.1_01" is already installed
5. Make a selection to "OK" when asked whether to uninstall
6. After the uninstallation is complete
7. Repeat step 2a. and see that 1.4.1 disappears instead of 1.4.1_01-b0x
8. Now try and uninstall 1.4.1_01 RTPatch update through control panel and you
cannot do so.
9. Install 1.4.1_01 full JRE installshield again and note now you have two
1.4.1_01 on system showing up as two differnt entries in control
panel.
There may is other potential scenarios such as one above which can result in
these two install mechanisms resulting in conflicting installations and may
create problems in customer deployments.
Needs to be fixed ASAP.
