      java version "1.8.0"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0-b132)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.0-b70, mixed mode)

      ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
      Darwin 13.1.0 Darwin Kernel Version 13.1.0: Thu Jan 16 19:40:37 PST 2014; root:xnu-2422.90.20~2/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
After installing the Java 8 JDK, the Java Control Panel correctly lists the installation at /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java as Product 1.8.0, but shows the Platform as 1.7

REGRESSION. Last worked in version 7u60

      ADDITIONAL REGRESSION INFORMATION:
      java version "1.7.0_51"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_51-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.51-b03, mixed mode)

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
      1) Open System Preferences
      2) Click 'Java'
      3) In Java Control Panel window, click 'Java' tab
      4) Click 'View'
      5) Read the contents of the 'Platform' and 'Product' columns

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      EXPECTED -
Platform should read 1.8, Product should read 1.8.0
      ACTUAL -
Product does indeed show 1.8.0 but Platform shows as 1.7, this is inconsistent and may lead to problems where applications are relying on an accurate Product string

      REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
