jdk 1.0.2 , even with JIT's the performance of applications is too slow

Quite a few developers expressed reservations about the performance of Java and it's use in mission-critical client/server applications. Even with the JIT the performance was unacceptably slow and did not convince them enough to develop mission-critical applications on the Java platform
