WIN64: java.exe is not recognised from cmd.exe without PATH being set (1.4.2)

Install 64-bit version of java on Itanium II machine
launch cmd.exe from run menu.
run java -version from this prompt
'java' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

The path is set to look at the system32 folder in %SYSTEMROOT%\windows.

This only applies when cmd is launched with the exe in %SYSTEMROOT%/windows/system32 (default from run panel)


If cmd.exe from %SYSTEMROOT%/windows/sysWOW64 dir is launched,
java -version works.
