    Description

When we upgraded the installers in Tiger to ishield 8 from ishield 7, we introduced new MST files. These files hold the l10n information for all of the individual installer supported languages. They actually help save about 1MB for all jre downloads, because each language does not have to download the l10n info for the other 9 languages. The problem that was also introduced is that the jre and sdk both have 1033.MST and 1041.MST language files, and they have the same conflicting filenames. We had no control over the names of these MST files in Tiger, so the jre and sdk install-from-the-web files needed to be staged in different directories. This introduced complications for Web Engineering.

In Tiger-beta2, we implemented some iftw fixes that actually allow us to control the name of the MST files. So we could actually change the 1033.MST to jre-1033.MST and sdk-1033.MST for the jre and sdk installers respectively and the names would no longer conflict. We can also do the same for 1041.MST. Therefore, web engineering can easily go back to hosting all of the jre and sdk iftw files in the same directory like they did in 1.4.2.

A few installer functionality changes, and also a few makefile changes would need to be implemented for this to take place.
