    Description

      ###@###.### 2004-05-04

J2SE Version (please include all output from java -version flag):
        java version "1.5.0-beta2"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0-beta2-b48)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0-beta2-b48, mixed mode, sharing)

Does this problem occur on J2SE 1.3.x or 1.4.x? Yes / No (pick one)
        No

Operating System Configuration Information (be specific):
        Windows XP

      Bug Description:
Java Web Start applications are now added to the Windows Add/Remove
Programs dialog, which is a great thing, but instead of adding an entry
for, for example, JDiskReport, an entry is added for "Java-Application:
JDiskReport". This contradicts efforts by the Swing, desktop, and JWS
teams to integrate Java applications better into the OS.

It wouldn't make sense for, for example, "AOL Instant Messenger" to be
listed as "C++-Application: AOL Instant Messenger", and similarly it
doesn't make sense to show "Java-Application:" before Web Start
        applications' entries.

Additionally, the naming is a problem to the user for two reasons:
first, the user does not care what Java is, or which programs he or she
uses are written in which languages. Second, placing Java-Application
before Web Start Add/Remove Programs entries places all Web Start
applications in the J section. If a user were looking to uninstall
Blocks (by Tom Copeland), he or she would not be looking in the J section.
