Sometimes Tooltip disappears almost immediately

I attached a Tooltip to a Button, inside various containing node and ultimately a ScrollPanel shown in a scene that is in a JFXPanel. Sometimes the Tooltip displays normally, sometimes it appears and then disappears extremely quickly. It does not seem to be related to movement of the mouse or anything like that.
