renderToImage produces incorrect image

Example from RT-16759 shows that first image is always incorrect. I narrowed it down to this simple app. It adds only one text node and renders it to image several times each producing different images. (One before the node is added, two - after)

I have no idea why this is happening and how to workaround this.
