Unable to install JRE 8u66

FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
None, fresh install

ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Mac OS X 10.11.2 El Captain

EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
Macbook Air 2014

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Tried updating with JRE 8u65 previously installed. I also tried uninstalling the previous JRE environment to perform a clean install of JRE 8u66, this wouldn't install.

REGRESSION. Last worked in version 8u65

ADDITIONAL REGRESSION INFORMATION:
None as previous version was uninstalled to try for clean install.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Install the mac os x package via java.com website rather than the binary from oracle.com

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
To be able to use java environment to program or view / play with media.
ACTUAL -
The installer opened, unticked the sponsor box and pressed next and the package just closed without confirmation message and no java installed.
