Problems with focus of narrator in TextArea

    XMLWordPrintable

    Details

      Description

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
      1) When navigating through the text of a TextArea with arrow keys, the focus of the narrator does not update to the current position of the cursor but simply remains at the first position. The expected behavior can be seen e.g. in the editor of Windows, where the narrator focus moves with the cursor.

      2) When placing the cursor on any position in the text of a TextArea (e.g. using KeyCombinations) the focus also stays on the first position. (In the example Ctrl+F5 and Ctrl+R for test purposes for placing the cursor 5 positions to the right). This could be the same problem as in point 1, but it doesn't have to be.

Interestingly, the predefined shortcut Ctrl+Arrow right, which allows navigation to the next word, works correctly with narrator focus. This shortcut works after you type something, but only until you use normal arrow keys to change the cursor position.

In the appendix you can find a standalone example for this problem. Please download here:

To reproduce, simply set the focus to the TextArea with the Narrator running and navigate with arrow keys or key combinations (Ctrl+F5/Ctrl+R for 5 positions to the right).
