Currently, logging agent activity is off by default, and when enabled, it just does to stderr.

It would be better to enable logging by default, and to write the messages to files, for easier post-analysis in case of problems. Also, the messages should be timestamped so that the log files (one for jtreg, one for each agent) can be merge-sorted.
