java.awt.List allows me to delete one or more items from the middle of
a list but won't let me add in the middle of the list: I can only add
at the end.

It would be nice to be able to add in the middle ... perhaps to build
a sorted list, for example. As it is, I must delete all the items that
occur after where I want to insert, add my item at what is now the
end, and then add back the items I took off. Uugh.
