The applet at http://www.geom.umn.edu/~daeron/apps/ui/pack/mybutton.html
puts up an external window with a bunch of buttons in it. I'm not sure about
whether it is doing everything else it should, but on Solaris it pops up a window
that's about 2.5"x2.5", while on NT it is probably 10"x6".
