Selecting the TimesRoman font and writing a set of strings, all with a common
y coordinate, but switching between plain, bold and italic versions of the font
produce text on different base lines.
These different fonts do report different ascent and height values, but my
understanding is that the y coordinate is the location of the baseline to draw on.
