Ignore the below. Previous reports that this happens only via XHOST are incorrect. Run the TicTacToe or Animator demo on SolarisX86. The background is updated incorrectly. This problem appears on the x86 Solaris platform only.
I doubt anyone will ever do this, but if you are sitting at a SolarisSparc workstation and:
1. rlogin to a SolarisX86 machine
2. setenv DISPLAY <sparchost>:0 # where <sparchost> is your sparc
3. make sure the SolarisX86 machine is in the <sparchost> access list ( xhost <x86host> )
4. use appletviewer to display the TicTacToe game demo or some other applet with static images, like any Animator demo.
You will see that some parts of the image(s) are masked by the background color. For some reason more active images, like the TumblingDuke demo, are not affected by this.
