the new event model provides no easy method for handling input event propagation

In the current new event model api, the is no propagation of any events up
the hierarchy. It turns out that this propagation is critical for certain
types of events (generally input events, such as mouse moves, drags, etc.)
because a container often needs to see these events occurring on its
descendents.
