In textfield I attempted to input 8-bit accented characters from a USA keyboard
with the following keystrokes: Compose-key + vowel + accent character. Examples
include: [aeiou]+['`"^] Each printed in the textarea as [aeiou]['"`^] whereas
I expected to see the accent characters superimposed on the vowel.
Note: Pressing a panel button that outputs 8-bit accented characters into the
textfield works correctly. The 8-bit accented characters appear correctly with
the accent superimposed over the vowel.
I am running in a Solaris 2.5 environment using French locale on SparcStation 2
with USA keyboard. Using JDK1.1 Beta that came available on Monday 9 dec.
I have verified that a Motif application with the widget TextWidget works
correctly.
