File I/O is very slow on Win95. Developer Marvin Kelly of Decision Support Group Inc. did some benchmarks on his system comparing File I/O with database I/O and found that database I/O to be 10-15 times faster than File I/O. In certain cases he found that File I/O to be so slow that it became unusable.
