Note This has occured twice today but is not always reproducable
changing the position of the navigation buttons from top to bottom and
also from bottom to top crashes hotjava

to attempt to recreate:
1. open the edit display preferences page
2. change the navigation buttons postion
3. and the locator position
4. apply
