Scrolling applet causes repeated redraws of images in HotJava

      Goto page http://ssir-us.ebay/cgi-bin/genSplash.sh.

Once the page finishes loading and the scrolling text applet at the top begins,
the applet's display and the GIF images at either end begin to flash as the
browser appears to redraw them over and over. Once the applet quits scrolling,
      the flashing stops.

While the flashing occurs, HotJava's UI is almost totally nonresponsive to
the user's mouse and keyboard input.

Viewing HTML errors and clicking on the back navigation button to reload the
      page stops the flashing.

This problem does not occur in HotJava 1.0b7.

The problem seems to be a bit better in JavaSoft's HotJava 1.0n, but if the
images are not flashing when the page is loaded, scroll to the bottom of the
page and back and they should start to flash. Click on the back key and then
the forward key and the flashing stops again.
