Frames: FRAMEBORDER=0 BORDER=0 FRAMESPACING=0 not getting rid of frame

XMLWordPrintable

    • generic, other, x86, sparc
    • generic, other, solaris_2.5.1, solaris_2.6, windows_nt

HTML-frames are also not quite implemented correctly as attributes
FRAMEBORDER=0 BORDER=0 FRAMESPACING=0 do not completely do away the frame (a
thin gray strip appears). See 'www.ampav.com' or another frame-based page for
       reference.

      ================================
      Another report regarding BORDER=0

Setting border=0 allows for a fluid rendering of a frameset
This has an extreme visual impact.

This is a deal breaker (javastation vs other NCs) on a french deal
with the company APEC, Stu Lerner knows about it.

This is an rfe for the next hotjava product in october,
since it is to be deployed on Krupps

[samra, 8/12/97]: For some reason, I am unable to change the severity. It
should be bumped to 3 or 2. I checked the page www.ampav.com. It is looking
good with HJsolarisbin-071697.zip (beta1). However there is a deep line drawn
in between FRAMEs. This does not happen with netscape. Not having this deep
line is more cosmetic w.r.t this page. I will see if I can provide a testcase.

      Sal,

I there any way to fix this bug in HJB while we fix the bugs for CSX?
APEC needs these fixes ASAP and of course will need them in Luna.
This would enable a quick win of several hundred JavaStations at one
of France's most visible reference accounts.

      Hi Stu,

How are you ? busy to prepare the Java Business Expo, I guess.

Here is an update about HJB for APEC:

There is only one feature missing, and it hasbeen recognised as a bug,

but its priority is 4 (ie very low) - see in attachment.

We need this bug to be fixed for Luna for the APEC deal. Could you
help us to raise the priority, or make this bug ( which is curently
      "dispatched" fixed in Luna ?

      Thks for your help

      Alain

The following user provides an example of the problem. The html source has
been added to the attachmens, sherig 08/13/97

Take a look at www.cdsnet.net/vidiot/ with HotJava and Netscape 3.0.
Netscape 3.0 displays the frames correctly, i.e., there are no seams. HotJava
      still has seams.

      [samra, 10/10/97]:
the other page that has this problem is www.chrysler.com.
      chrysler is a javastation customer.
