Cannot input non-ISO_8859_1 characters in TextArea under Solaris 2.6

      When running Asian locales under Solaris 2.6, the textarea does not accept
      non-ascii characters. The TextArea shows junk whenever any non-ascii character is typed in.
      This was happening under JDK1.1.1 and JDK1.1.2 as well.
      In Solaris 2.5.1, under JDK1.1.3, this problem does not occur.
