There's no way to get keyboard events for special keys on the Sun keyboard,
such as the Cut key. This makes it impossible to implement compatibility
with those keys in Java applications that do their own key processing, such
as pure Java text widgets. This causes people running such Java applications
on Solaris to report bugs and complain of missing functionality, reducing
the usability and compatibility of such applications, and increasing the
support cost for such applications. Telling such users to pretend that they
only have a PC keyboard, and to forget about those special keys, is not an
acceptable solution. Likewise, using the native AWT text components is not
a viable workaround for many applications.
