The NeonSign applet draws extremely slowly using the JDK1.2 as compared to JDK 1.1.x on Windows NT 4.0. The result is that instead of looking like a flashing neon sign, it looks like one picture slowly being drawn over another. Brian Lichtenwalter has stated that the problem is that the applet "redraws on non True Color settings". This problem only occurs on Windows.
The applet can be found at: /home/nancys/testapps/misc/NeonSign
and at: /home/lichtenw/demos/NeonSign
Steps to Reproduce:
0) Get the applet from /home/nancys/testapps/misc/NeonSign
1) Recompile with your current JDK on a Windows NT 4.0 machine.
2) Run the applet.
RESULT: Instead of the applet flashing a "Neon Sign" like it supposed to, it slowly draws a picture of the part of the sign that supposed to be Neon.
