Some of the time and date formats in the U.S.
English locale data (LocaleElements_en) seem wrong:
1) The full date format produces "Saturday,
September 06, 1997". There shouldn't be a leading
0 before the 6.
2) The medium date format produces "06-Sep-97",
which seems more like a European format. It's the
only format in this locale that puts the date
before the month, which is rarely done in the U.S.
It should probably come out as "Sep 6, 1997"
instead.
3) The full time pattern produces "4:36:00 o'clock
PM PDT". I've only seen "o'clock" used on wedding
invitations and only when the whole time was
spelled out, e.g. "Four-thirty o'clock in the
afternoon" or "Half past four o'clock in the
afternoon," but never "4:30 o'clock PM". Lose
the "o'clock."
4) The date/time pattern is probably a question
of taste, but I'd be inclined to think of
"6:35 PM, Sunday, Septmber 7, 1997" as more
correct than "Sunday, September 7, 1997 6:35 PM".
I tend to think it's more natural to put the time
first, and that either way, there should probably
be a comma between the time and the date. On the
other hand, it depends on the formats being used,
because "9/7/97 6:35 PM" seems fine too. On the
other hand, I don't see anything wrong with
"6:35 PM, 9/7/97" either.
