Customer uses 8-bit color X-terminals on which they run using the True-Color
Visual, which run apps from 2.6 based x86 servers. The customer has written
numerous applications using Java and needs to display colors in these
applications using some grey scales. The current jvm & awt don't support grey
scales with this visual. The customer needs some kind of solution that will
support grey scales. The customer is aware of and understands the issues and
limitations of the 3x3x2 color cube, but points out that other applications
successfully support grey scales in such an environment without using
dithering to create them. For example, the motif native app Applix has
grey colors, as does the JVM embedded in the latest Netscape Communicator
        (4.0.4).
