JOptionPane: sometimes no component gets default focus when dialog activated

Sometimes when bringing up an Option dialog (with the JOptionPane static
methods), when the dialog is activated, no components get teh default
focus. This means the user has to select something to dismiss the
dialog (instead of just hitting space or return).
