rmid should not spawn groups concurrently

When rmid spawns too many groups concurrently (12 to 15 to be exact) and
is activating too many objects at the same time (like 10-20), everything
slows down and rmid ends up timing out waiting for some of the child groups
to be spawned. Instead rmid should spawn groups one at a time to avoid
encountering the timeout.
