running solaris install in non-writable directory fails

    Description


      If you try and run the solaris Activator install script in a
      directory where you don't have write access you get:

      Unpacking...
      package.i18n: install.sfx.3242: cannot create
      Validating checksum...
      sum: install.sfx.3242 No such file or directory
      expr: syntax error
      expr: syntax error

      Installing Java Plug-in 1.1.3 into a non-writable directory now results into an install failure. The exact message is:

      Do you agree to the above license terms?
      If you do not agree to the terms, installation cannot proceed
          Please type yes or no.
      yes
      ERROR:
      Install failure. Your current directory is not writable.
      Some temporary storage is needed in your current directory.
      Please cd to a writable directory and retry
      javace(/home/teresat/kangaroo)

      Bug verified as fixed.
