Run the enclosed application JapaneseDisplay in the Japanese locale. The pane "Lightweight component with TextLayout" tries to draw Japanese text using TextLayout. On Solaris, you see random Roman glyphs displayed instead of the Japanese characters. On Windows NT, you see boxes. The text should look the same as the samples in the bitmap or the peered component.
