Specify LANG environment value as ja, and execute rmi command with -show option.
Then, the following message is displayed on the console.

 "ld.so.1: JDK-install-directory/bin/sparc/native_threads/rmic: fatal:
  relocation error: symbol not found: _XlcDefaultMapModifiers: referenced in
  /usr/openwin/lib/locale/ja/XLIBI18N/xlibi18n.so.1
  current locale is not supported in X11, locale is set to C"

And, same message is displayed by serialver command with -show option.
