Another thing that would be nice is to be able to use some sort of "macro"
in the javadocs I generate and ship such that when someone installs the
javadocs on their machine they can change the macro to point to the
local installation location of the externally referenced classes. But
this is getting pretty fancy and may require the applet approach you
mentioned...

This would have other uses, such as for redirecting Tutorial links
from java.sun.com to a local machine.

I expect this RFE would be implemented outside of the javadoc tool, but
is submitted in the javadoc category, lacking a category for auxiliary
javadoc tools.
