      Win95 (test machine: Marino)
      JDK-1.2fcs-C bld
Tried running some of the applets under /usr/local/java/jdk1.2fcs/win32/applets

      Steps to reproduce
#1. Try running any of the applets in the above directory using "appletviewer ??.html", where ?? is the name of the respective html page associated with the applet.

#2. Notice that a dialog box pops up stating the following:-

This program has caused an illegal operation and will be shut down....

#3. When I click Details, I see the following message:-

APPLETVIEWER caused an invalid page fault in module SYMCJIT.DLL...

#4. I'm able to successfully launch the applet when I try the following:-
      "appletviewer -J-Djava.compiler= ??.html"

Please see attached - JIT.gif - for more info on the error message.

I have some things to add to the above description:-

#1. I'm unable to reproduce this bug on WinNT.
#2. JIT version: Symantec Java! JustInTime Compiler Version 3.00.057(x) for JDK
      1.2Copyright (C) 1996-98 Symantec Corporation
#3. Unable to reproduce this bug for JDK-1.2fcs-B bld.

I've seen a similar problem with the C build, however it occurs only
on winNT on my machine. I tried it with win95 and had no problem.
      Here is what I've noticed:

If I start any java applets or applications from an MKS Korn shell, there is
      no problem.
However, if I start an applet from a DOS shell, it works the first time,
but on any subsequent attempts I get an access violation in the symcjit.dll.
If I try to start a java *application* from a DOS shell, it won't even start
the first time. It fails with the same access violation in symcjit.dll.
