Rendering composited text is slow. When running in the demo framework with the Mix.Balls demo stopped and the MemoryMonitor stopped, Mix.BezierScroller performance w/o composite is about 18 fps (Sol 2.6 Ultra 1 - 8 bit), when composite is turned on it's performance is less than 2 fps. Stop the MemoryMonitor from running by clicking on it.

To reproduce :

cd /net/capra/export/JavaMedia/2D/builds/current/solaris/demo/jfc/Java2D
../../../bin/java Java2Demo
stop the MemoryMonitor by clicking on it
select the Mix tab
select the ToolBar check box from the Global Controls
stop the Balls demo
watch the PerformanceMonitor and get the FPS on BezierScroller
hit the C button on the BezierScroller toolbar
watch the PerformanceMonitor and get the FPS on BezierScroller
ouch, that's slow!
