Run
/usr/green/bin/jdkx -b <your build> demo SymbolTest
on Solaris 2.5.1, without setting any of the Java2D-bug-workaround variables. Try the recommended character pages starting at 2200, 2700, 3300. None of them shows any characters. On Windows, you get a variety of characters scattered over these pages.
