JFrame should (at least optionally) reflect the current look and feel.
IMHO - It looks terrible to have a Windows L&F "Parent" Window and
Windows L&F dialogs in an application using Metal.
This isn't a bug it is a request for enhancement. Obviously JFrames
don't reflect L&F implementations. I suppose you could run the Swing
set demo as an example. The default look and feel is Metal but the
JFrame uses the native operating systems look & feel. I am sure
anyone on the Swing team would
immediately know what I am talking about.
If you are looking for an example of problems relating to dragging
components based on Window or JWindow simply try dragging the
JToolBar in the swingset demo around your desktop. You will notice
paint problems almost immediately.
It is a little upsetting that you deleted my bug report because it is,
in your assesment, an "Unclear Request" (although it is very encouraging
that the response took less than a day :-) What is unclear about it? The
request is, "Please allow JFrame and JDialog to reflect the current look &
feel". Examples include any Swing
application including the SwingSet. Note: This feature would requirte AWT
enhancements to the Window class. Again, I am sure Tom or Jeff could explain
this to you in detail. I know for a fact that the Swing team is aware of the AWT
Window deficiently in question.
It may be easier to create a new JExternalFrame class based on Window because
of the underlying AWT changes required to significantly alter Frame (and thus
JFrame).
If you have any other questions relating to this subject please let me know.
