When using Java Plug-in 1.2 with JIT enabled (JDK 1.2), it works fine and the JIT is unloaded during browser exit. However, after installing Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 on the same machine and it replaces couple system DLL including MSVCRT.dll in the machine, users expenience problem when using Java Plug-in. When the user closes the browser when Java Plug-in is running, the browser window is closed, but the browser process remains in memory forever. We have to use task manager to kill the process manually. This problem is mainly caused by the JIT which fails to unload after Visual Studio is installed.

This problem occurs in both IE and NS, and on Win95, 98 and NT 4.0.
