Changing to windows l&f crashes app sometimes

    Description

      I observed this on Win 98, running the SwingSet application.
      Switching to Windows look-n-feel caused the application to hang. Didn't happen always (although it seemed to take a long time to switch l&f). Didn't happen with the classis VM at all. Didn't happen on Win NT with either VM.
