Build : 'H'
OS : Win95 & 98 & NT
bit depth : 16bit depth
app : SwingSet.jar
Intermittently locks up when launched:
java -jar SwingSet.jar
OR
java -cp SwingSet.jar SwingSet
On 1 out of 3 launches, what I get is the frame of the main wnd with nothing drawn inside of it.
Few things regarding this bug:
1. On faster machines it takes a little more effort for the lockup to happen.
2. I can induce the lock by launching a memory hog like a browser that
clears up cached memory. Because in sucessive launches seems to be
using cached resources thus no failure....?
3. Installed JDK exhibits this problem. Off of the server I am unable to
make it fail.
Steps to repo:
1. launch: java -cp SwingSet.jar SwingSet
2. if not lock goto 1.
3. if still not lock after 3-4 tries launch a browser
4. relaunch the SwingSet.
I see it consistently on 2 different machines (P233 & P133) on 3 different platforms (95, 98, NT)
