I consider this to be a serious bug. I would
like to hide installation questions that users
have to answer when installing the JRE along
with my product. My product is already very
complicated to install and I would like to
automatically answer the questions needed to
install the jre used by my product. On
solaris this is not a problem because the
jre installation program is a shellscript. On
WindowsNT, you use an InstallShield executable.
I've spoken to the makers of InstallShield and
they've told me that there is a simple option that
can be enabled to allow the install questions to be
      answered on the command line.

This is not just an ease of use issue. If people
have trouble installing Java products then they
will walk away with a bad impression of Java in
general. In addition, my product completes with
products that are not written in java, and if my
product is installed incorrectly, then my customer
may end up buying a product that is not written using
      java.

This is such a simple request, I hope that it will
      get some consideration.

      Thanks,
      Howard
(PS - If you are already shipping a JRE that can
be installed in the background on windows Nt,
can you send me information about it?)
