Peoplesoft Webclient application creates a memory violation on Netscape
4.08 and 4.5 no matter if the application is being used on NT4.0 or Windows 98.

The crashes occur when a reload button or a back button in Netscape
are being used in order to jump to a different html page with another applet.

The application uses swing and BEA's jolt libraries.
        The JIT compiler is disabled
The initial heap size is bumped up to 16mb
The maximum heap size is bumped up to 64mb.

The NT system has 128MB physical memory.
The system memory foot print after the start of Netscape is ~54mb
The system memory foot print at crash time is 96mb (!)

Javaplugin 1.1.2 with JDK 1.1.7B (default) are being used.

This crash doesn't allow Peoplesoft to certify their product on any other browser than IE. This means that Peoplesoft got a pure Java webclient
        which runs on WIndows/IE only.

A major deal (Bell/Atlantic ~$2.000.000 to ~5.000.000) is on hold due to this problem.

Bug analysis is very difficult since it produces a Netscape stacktrace but nothing else.

A public website will feature the application within the next 48hours.
The crash may be reproduced by an off-SWAN system.

Please contact Stefan Schneider (x86411) or Brian Stuart (x86162) within Sun
for the walkthrough of the application.
The Peoplesoft contct within Peoplesoft QA is Linda Koos (925-694-3000).
        Best regards

        Stefan Schneider
