We need a property that gives the programmer explicit control over the base level of bidi embedding for Swing classes jTextField, jTextArea and jTextPane. The current display engine apparently uses the bidi algorithm's default base level resolution method as described in the Unicode2 standard, page 3-17. This method determines the base level by looking at the text. This method is not adequate because data entry apps assume that a text field is inherently RTL or LTR without respect to the data entered in the field.
