Ihac with a test app that uses the new Java 1.2 printing methodology and
exhibits very strange behavior. Although it prints correctly, the
printer spool files that it generates can be huge - 20-80 MBytes for 2
simple pages! Note that this only happens for some printers. With a
more capable printer, we don't see this problem. It's not, however,
particular to the HP 5mp - they've seen the same problem on other
printers at other sites. They also see the problem when running with
the Java 1.2 plugin (in Netscape 4.5).

Although the files eventually print, it can take 30 seconds to minutes
before the job begins printing and the application returns from the
print module (which the customer feels is unacceptable behavior for this
      application).

      Environment:

System: Windows NT 4.0, SP 3
      Java: JDK 1.2
Printer: HP LaserJet 5mp (2MB memory)
