Looking at Java Sound and JMF I don't see mechanisms for handling sound off-line, eg loading in one format, algorithmically transforming it (eg extracting a section, or resampling), and saving in possibly another format (eg WAV/AU/MP3).

Am I missing something? Where should I be looking?
