Launch of this applet via appletviewer gets from ErrorID: 685 (os_win32.cpp) what looks to be a known issue. Maybe this bug will assist in further narrowing down the bug.

This one looks like the bug may be a compiler 1 bug that happens only on Windows 95 in mixed mode.

I tried the following:

WinNT,-Xmixed - PASS
Win95,-Xmixed - FAIL
Win95,-Xint - PASS

It can reproduced on a single processor CPU. Run the Swing Stylepad using the
jar file format: java -jar Stylepad.jar. Just try to save the Stylepad file
to get the crash to happen.
