The fix for the JFileChooser layout bugs (e.g., 4170960) that is
included in JDK 1.2.2rc1 did not properly align the File Name
and Files of Type fields. In particular:
1) The left edges of the two textfields are not aligned;
2) There is too much space between the fields and their labels;
3) There is too much space between the fields.

There should be no question as to whether the first two problems
should be fixed. The third is more subjective, as it involves
trading off the space between the fields, the space between the
Open and Cancel buttons, and the height of the buttons.

I don't understand why you would not use the spacing used by
common Microsoft applications for the Windows LAF. Neither will
our customers.
