java command not executable after installation

      After installing 1.3beta-N on NT4.0 the following messages appears when executing the java command

      java -fullversion
      Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion'
      has value '1.3', but '1.2' is required.
      Error: could not find java.dll
      Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.


      All prior versions of the JDK had been removed from the system and reboot performed before installtion.
