The JDK fails to build outside of SWAN due to a hard coded path. The jdbc-odbc
bridge relies on shared libraries (the ODBC DriverManager) that are not the
property of Sun.
with regard to docs: when it is fixed in a particular JDK version, such as 1.4.2_11,
then since the next major release of the docs is a copy of the latest
major release, all fixes are ported forward for docs
