This is with IE 5 and Kestrel fcs "C".

If you visit a large applet and scroll it, then you get very bad
background flicker in IE. This does not happen in Netscape.

For example, visit the SwingSet applet, resize the window so that only half the applet is
visible and and slowly scroll the IE window. What seems to happen is that on every scroll
update we are painting the background white and then repainting the applet on top.

This is really very ugly. We should try to fix this for FCS.

Any JApplet whos size is greater than the IE5 browser window will be choped-up! It's ugly and annoying.

Use the browser's scroll bar and move the scroll up and down and the effect will become obvious.

Another individual with the same problem explains it his way:

I have posted this question before, but with no responce. I'll try to explain better. I have created a Java2 applet using JB3. Almost all components are either AWT of JFC. I am able to run the applet in both = the Appletviewer AND InternetExplorer 5. Note that IE5 uses Sun's Java = plugin
1.2 to run the applet (because that is the only way that you can run = Java2 applets in IE5!) The applet loads into the browser and starts. = Everything
      seems to work fine.

      Here's the problem:
The applets are very large, about 800 x 800. This means that inorder = for a user to view the entire applet they must use the browser's scrollbar to scroll down to the bottom of the page. When they do this, the applet = gets "chopped up" and looks terrible. You can not see the entire applet and = it
looks all screwed up! What is the problem here? Can we fix this or is there a Java Plug-in / = IE5 compatability issue? We desperately need on help on this one!
